Hi there,

My name is Dan Jeswald, W4NTI. Hello to all my friends.

After reading this introduction, please check out my Editorial Page.

I've been licensed since 1961 under several calls. KN8BHH, K8BHH, HS1BH,DA2LJ, KX6AA (Marshall Islands) and finally, W4NTI. I left Ohio in 1964 and joined the Air Force.

Spent a year traveling TDY (Temporary Duty) as a Radio Operator in SEA (South East Asia) based out of Naha AB, Okinawa. Half of my 18 month tour on the rock was spent TDY (Temporary Duty) in Thailand, the Phillipines, Japan, Saigon, and the RVN (Republic of Viet Nam). Then I was assigned to a tour in Vietnam as a ground radio operator, Forward Air Controller, mostly in the III Corps. My home base was Bien Hoa, but I spent the TET Offensive in Saigon, at the Army Tactical Operations Center (TOC).

Got out of the AF in '68 and went back to Asia. Spent time in Thailand and Vietnam, and worked for civilian contractors in the Mekong Delta (NAM). Finally returned stateside in late '69. After being home awhile, I joined the Army.

Went to Germany for two 3 year tours and ended up in Alabama, where I decided to stay. This gave me a total of 12 years Military duty. I was discharged with a few medical problems from injuries sustained in Vietnam which led to my permanent retirement in the 1990's under the Veterans Administration.

As I contemplated discharge, I decided on a career in civilian life. I chose electronics. I supported myself and my growing family as a self-taught electronic technician. I worked on a variety of equipment, mainly RF oriented.

I worked for many overseas contractors, such as PA&E in Vietnam, and Kentron International in the Marshal Islands (where I was KX6AA) and Bendix avionics in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and finally, the Anniston Army Depot in Alabama.

After several moves, I am now permanently (I hope) situated at my present location. I finally have my tower up, with a HAZER of course, and this presently has a TA-33SR Triband antenna on it. This is the antenna I bought in Germany on my first tour and I've been dragging it around since about 1973. After adjustments, it works very well.

I'm a proud member of the Alabama Contest Group. I enjoy CW contesting the most, but have been known to do SSB as well.

I enjoy traffic nets and I'm a member of the Alabama Traffic Net Mike which meets on 3965 at 2330Z nightly, and the Alabama Section Net which meets on 3575 at 0000Z nightly. I also am a active member of Air Force MARS.
I am a life member of the ARRL and hold several field appointments with them. I am a member of the ARES/RACES group and participate in weather watches as required.

I believe participating in Public Service is a way of giving back, in a small way, what Amateur Radio has given me in all these years. I've actively helped the FCC to write and re-write the rules of the Amateur service, and as an active participant, my name can be found on many official FCC documents.

PLEASE NOTE. I HAVE TAKEN TO DXING LATELY, AND, DUE TO THE FACT THAT I AM A COMPLAINANT IN A FEDERAL CASE AGAINST A JAMMER (VE7KFM) IN CANADA, HIS FRIENDS HAVE DECIDED TO STALK ME AND INSERT A LINK TO HIS WEB PAGE IN CANADA, SHORTLY AFTER I POST A DX SPOT. PLEASE IGNORE THIS AND DON'T ALLOW THE "FRUITCAKE" (AS HE IS KNOWN AT THE FCC) OR HIS SUPPORTERS, TO INTERFERE WITH YOUR ENJOYMENT OF HAM RADIO.

PLEASE CHECK OUT VE7KFM.COM FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS MALICIOUS GIRLY-MAN.
